The Problem

Contamination of food products by items used during the manufacturing process entering the mix by accident can result in large costs being incurred. Costs arise through scrapping of large quantities of product if the contamination incident is identified in house through standard inspection, product recalls and possible litigation if the item is consumed. In addition business can be lost as a result of lost reputation and questions arising over the safety of food products.

The Solution

By making use of magnetically detectable products from TBA these costs and problems can be avoided. TBA’s magnetically detectable products can be detected by conventional metal detection systems, therefore broken components made from TBA materials can be detected and rejected.

Products

TBA manufacture a range of magnetically detectable thermoplastic compounds, the range is sufficient to allow the production of the majority of items used in a food factory to be manufactured in detectable form. As well as having magnetic properties all TBA compounds are manufactured in non – food blue to provide an element of visual detectability as well. The range is listed below:

	ECP 1535	Detectable and electrostatic conductive orthopaedic blue matting, suitable for ATEX applications. Reduces operative fatigue by up to 50%  for staff required to stand for long periods.
	ECP 1810	Detectable 1 ltr measuring jugs available in blue or red (nut allergy areas)
	ECP 1910	Detectable and static dissipative (ATEX compliant) solar powered calculator, arithmetical functions, percentages and square roots.

Coatings

Flaking paint off industrial controls is a common problem and will readily fall into food mixes, therefore TBA have developed an attractive detectable powder coating to meet this need.
